I try and not eat pizza all that often. I like it TOO much, and it removes what little self control I have left. Given that, when I DO get pizza, it had better be worth it. For some reason, I kept forgetting about Isabella’s Pizza even though it’s literally the closest pizza place to my home. I finally fixed that.
As usual, I ordered a deluxe. As I’ve mentioned before, you should always get deluxe. The Deluxe at Isabella’s consists of mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, green and black olives, sausage, pepperoni, and ham. Sold!
I called in my order then made the very short drive over. Isabella’s is located in a strip mall on Bartlett Blvd.
They’re currently setup for takeout only. I totally don’t blame them. They have all the tables pushed together to create a larger waiting/pickup area. It’s a layout that totally makes sense now, but it will be cool to go back post-pandemic and actually eat there. The inside is pretty much exactly what you would expect from a family-owned pizza place, with a strong NYC theme.
I waited a few minutes (I was early, the pizza was ready at pretty much exactly the promised time), and grabbed my pizza. The first thing I noticed is that the “Medium” is huge! Had I been paying attention when I looked at the menu, I would have noticed that their medium is actually 16”, the same size as a large most places.
I got the pizza home and cracked open the box. It looked and smelled amazing. It’s definitely New York style with thin, foldable crust that’s puffy and filled with air bubbles on the outside. Plenty of toppings too, they definitely aren’t stingy, and I love the fact that they use both red and green peppers. It’s a nice balance, and it also looks better in pics, lol.
Flavor was excellent too. Everything tastes super fresh and I particularly liked the sauce, it actually has some decent flavor to it, instead of being just plain tomatoes.
I honestly feel stupid for not having tried this place sooner. The pizza is fantastic, portion sizes are generous, the price was more than fair for the portion size (around $20 pre-tip for a giant “medium” pizza). I’ve also heard they have excellent sandwiches, so I guess I have to do a return trip soon. I’m definitely looking forward to it, this might be my new favorite pizza place overall. They ALSO do pizza by the slice, so if you’re in the area, definitely stop in and pick up a slice of pizza to try them out. I suggest getting the deluxe, as always.
Looks fabulously, yummy; actually pizza is a weakness for anyone attemping to diet. However; occasionally we need to treat ourselves!
Thanks, for the review!
