I finally escaped for my first real vacation since the whole pandemic thing ruined travel for a while. We made the 3 hour drive to Hot Springs, Arkansas for a little weekend getaway since we’re fully vaccinated.
The first night when you arrive somewhere is always a little weird, you are excited to be in a new place but also tired from driving all day. By the time we got here, got checked in and unloaded, parked the car, and got settled in, it was dinner time and none of us felt like going anywhere. Pizza delivery to the rescue!
I did a quick google search and found a highly-rated place nearby that delivers both pizza AND their very own craft beers. SOLD!
SQZBX is kinda weirdly named, and it took me a lot longer than I would like to admit that it’s a shortened, stylized version of the word “Squeezebox”, but their pizza and their beer is awesome.
First off, I had to get some of their local beer. Daisy isn’t much of a beer drinker, so I usually go with something light that has some fruit notes. At SQZBX, the Silver Wheat caught my eye. I decided to pick up a 64oz growler of it.

The Silver Wheat was exactly what I wanted. Light, subtle fruit notes, very drinkable. We ended up drinking about half the growler and Daisy actually had a few glasses, which is unusual for her. If you’re visiting in hot weather, this would be absolutely amazing on a patio or after a long day of hiking.
We were all absolutely starving, so we order a large “Wide Load” pizza too. This is basically their deluxe, it has like all the meats plus peppers, onions, and olives.

I was really impressed with the pizza from SQZBX (though I am kinda tired of holding down the shift key to type the name). This pizza is legitimately great. Way better than it needs to be. Let’s be honest, they’re a pizza place right by all the hotels in a resort town, they didn’t have to make amazing pizza, just passable pizza, but they went ahead and made some absolutely amazing pizza anyway.
The crust is great, chewy inside with just the right amount of crunch. The toppings all taste very fresh and seem to be actually cut by hand. The cheese tastes fresh. They amount of toppings is generous, they don’t skimp on anything, and there’s a good mix of everything.
Daisy actually declared it the best pizza she’s ever had. Ava ate an entire giant slice and then half of another, which is super high praise for a toddler that, so far as I can tell, never actually eats any food.
Later in the night, I walked through the lobby to grab some stuff out fo the car. I saw a delivery guy from Pizza Hut walking in and I wanted to go find the people that ordered from there and tell them they were making a huge mistake. If you visit Hot Springs, you need to try the pizza from SQZBX.
And the beer. Don’t forget the beer.

Absolutely the BEST Pizza 🍕~Mel
