I picked up the Panasonic Lumix S9 almost a month ago now. I’m working on a full review, but I wanted to go ahead and share some of my favorites so far. These are almost all with the Sigma 35mm F2 DG DN lens.

I don’t want to go too much into review territory since I am actively working on a much more in depth post about this camera, but I do have a few initial thoughts.
The controls are laid out well and intuitive to use. I’ve already gotten used to controlling the camera, and everything is basically on your right hand which makes it pretty fast.
I don’t miss an EVF as much as I thought I would. It probably helps that this is not my only camera, and I use my other camera that has an EVF in situation where I KNOW I will want one.
There are still not enough small fast primes for L mount. The Sigma 35mm F2 is good, and would be considered a smallish lens when mounted to something like the S5ii, but we still need smaller, lighter fast primes for this camera to really be a camera most people are willing to carry around.
Okay I’ll stop there for now while I keep working on my full review, but suffice to say I’m pretty damn happy with this setup overall. Also, I found a plugin that will share posts directly to Bluesky and replace WordPress comments with the Bluesky comments, and I’m using this post as my first test.
