I think this might be the overall best burger in the Memphis area. Of course, a lot of times “The best burger in the Memphis area” is whichever happens to be in front of me, so take that with a grain of salt, but this is a seriously good burger.
We’ve done Memphis Mojo Cafe in a previous post, so check that out if you haven’t yet. I was super tempted to get that chicken philly again, but that wouldn’t make for very good content, so I decided to get another thing on the Mojo Menu that caught my eye, the Smoked Burger. It’s a 6oz burger with gouda cheese, caramelized onions, candied bacon, and chipotle aioli.
I’ll get to that in a minute though. First, check out what everyone else got.
Ava went for chicken tenders with seasoned fries. I dad-taxed a bite of her chicken tenders and they’re seriously good. Next time I’m in the mood for tendies I might skip the chain stuff and just order here.

Daisy got the BLT with corn nuggets. First, the BLT is awesome. I don’t even like BLT’s but I sampled it and it and even I thought it was very good. Also, corn nuggets as your side is the pro tip for this place. Mojo’s seasoned fries are very good, but I maintain that if you ever have the choice to get corn nuggets you totally should, and this is no exception.

And finally the smoked cheeseburger. This dude has a lot of flavor. The chipotle aioli is really the key I think. It’s got a smokiness and a little bit of heat that helps break up the fat of the meat and cheese. The onions are nicely caramelized and there’s just the right amount, at least for me. Even the bun is clearly a bakery bun, not an off the shelf product.
This is legitimately in the running for best Memphis burger. It doesn’t offer the same bang for you buck as Chile Verde’s burger, but it’s bigger and honestly more unique and flavorful.

The only thing I DON’T like about the Smoked Burger is now I’m gonna have to make the tough choice between it and the Chicken Philly every damn time I go to Mojo Cafe.
